ETYMOLOGY:

From the Greek: λεπτός (leptós) = thin, fine and κλάδος (kládos) = branch, ramification. Therefore, leptoclada literally means “with thin branches” or “having slender branching.” The name refers to the delicate, thread-like appearance of the stems or branches of the plant, which can be a distinguishing feature in many Passiflora species.

DESCRIPTION:

It is a typical species of the Peruvian flora. Its bilobed leaves are transverse with pointed tips and reach a size of 4 x 7 cm.
The stem is thin and striated..
The leaf blade is rich in nectars arranged along the two main veins.
The flowers, with a diameter of about 3 cm, are characterized by an external crown of sparse white filaments, placed horizontally, about 12 mm long and by a second small internal crown, with vertical filaments only 2-3 mm long.
The sepals and petals are green and retroflexed.
The spherical fruits, 1.5 cm in diameter, are covered with a thick tomentosity.
