The P. alata 'Linhares' has leaves and flowers and smaller fruits of the typical species. The stem highlights the typical square section The flowers are compact, with a robust and collected crown.
The filaments, in fact, are not thin but enlarged at the base and become tapered towards the apex. The alternating bands on the same, white and dark red are precise and very contrasted up to the end, unlike the typical species in which they are present only in the first half of their length. The flower centre is white.
The elliptical leaves with rounded ends hardly exceed 10-12 cm in length and 5 cm in width. The petiole bears only one pair of glands placed near the leaf lamina.
